Privacy Policy — Offer Meet
Offer Meet is an offers and deals browser for shops in Kerala, India. This policy explains exactly what the app collects, why, where it is stored, and how you can get it removed. It is written to describe what the app actually does — there is no advertising network, no analytics SDK and no third-party tracker in the app.
1. Who we are
Offer Meet (“we”, “us”) is the publisher of the Offer Meet app and the party responsible for the data described here. For any privacy question, correction or deletion request, write to Mohammedajmali369@gmail.com.
2. What we collect
2.1 Information you give us
| Data | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | When you create an account | It is your sign-in identifier, and it receives the verification and password-reset codes. |
| Password | When you create an account | Authentication. It is handled and stored by Amazon Cognito in hashed form; we never see or store your plain password. |
| Display name (optional) | Sign-up, or later from your profile | Shown to you on the profile screen. |
| Profile photo (optional) | Only if you choose one from your photo library | Shown as your avatar. See §4 for how it is stored. |
The app does not ask for your phone number, contacts, calendar, microphone, health data or payment details, and it has no in-app purchases.
2.2 Location
Location is optional. The app works fully without it — you can pick your district and town from a list instead.
- If you tap “Use my current location”, the app asks for approximate location permission and requests a single position fix.
- That fix is used on your device to match you to a Kerala district and town, and to sort nearby offers by distance during that session.
- Your coordinates are not transmitted to our servers and are not written to storage. Only the resolved district and town names are saved on your device, so no location history builds up between launches.
- There is no background or continuous location tracking. The app never requests a location fix unless you tap the button.
2.3 Stored on your device only
The following stay in the app’s private storage on your phone and are not sent to us. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it:
- Offers you save or mark as favourites
- Your recent searches
- Your chosen district and town
- Whether you chose to continue as a guest
- Your sign-in session tokens, if you are signed in
- A cached copy of the offers catalogue, so the app opens quickly and works with a poor connection
2.4 What we do not collect
- No advertising identifiers, ad SDKs or ad networks.
- No analytics, attribution or crash-reporting SDKs.
- No third-party trackers or social-media SDKs.
- No browsing activity outside the app.
As with any internet service, our hosting provider processes standard technical connection data (such as IP address and timestamps) in transient server logs in order to deliver responses and protect the service against abuse. We do not use these logs to build a profile of you.
3. How we use your information
- To create and secure your account, and to sign you in.
- To send transactional emails only: email verification and password reset codes. We do not send marketing email.
- To show you offers relevant to the district and town you selected or detected.
- To display your name and avatar back to you in the app.
- To keep the service working and protect it from abuse.
We do not use your data for profiling, automated decision-making with legal effects, or targeted advertising.
4. How and where your data is stored
- Account data (email, name, Cognito user ID) is held in an Amazon Cognito user pool operated by Amazon Web Services, Inc. (“AWS”).
- Profile photos are uploaded to Amazon S3. Each upload is written to a path tied to your own identity, so one user cannot overwrite another’s image. Please note that these images are served from a publicly readable URL at an unguessable address: anyone who is given the exact link can open the image, and it is not indexed or listed anywhere. Do not upload a photo you would not be comfortable being viewable by someone holding that link.
- Offers content (shops, deals, coupons and their images) is our own catalogue data and contains no personal information about you.
- All traffic between the app and our services uses HTTPS.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for anyone else’s advertising. We share it only with the infrastructure providers needed to run the service, acting on our instructions:
| Provider | Purpose | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon Web Services (AWS) | Authentication (Cognito), file storage (S3), database and API hosting | Email, name, Cognito user ID, profile photo |
We may also disclose information where we are legally required to do so, or where it is necessary to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim.
Links out of the app
Offer detail screens can open your phone dialler, WhatsApp, a maps app or a shop’s website. Once you leave Offer Meet, the privacy policy of that app or website applies, not ours. We do not pass your account details to them.
6. How long we keep it
- Account data: for as long as your account exists.
- Profile photo: until you replace it or your account is deleted.
- On-device data: until you clear the app’s storage or uninstall the app.
- After a deletion request: we remove your account data within 30 days, except where a longer period is required by law.
7. Your rights and choices
- Access and correction. You can view and change your display name and photo in the app, and request a copy of what we hold by emailing us.
- Withdraw location permission. Revoke it any time in your device settings; the app will fall back to manual district selection.
- Delete your data. See §8.
- Complain. If you are in India, you may raise a grievance with us first at the address below; you may also approach the Data Protection Board of India. If you are in the EEA or UK, you may complain to your local supervisory authority.
Where the GDPR applies, our legal bases are: performance of a contract (running your account), consent (location access and profile photo, each of which you can withdraw), and legitimate interests (keeping the service secure and working).
8. Deleting your account and data
To request deletion of your Offer Meet account:
Email Mohammedajmali369@gmail.com from the email address registered to the account, with the subject “Delete my Offer Meet account”. We will confirm within 7 days and complete the deletion within 30 days.
What deletion removes:
- Your Cognito account record, including your email address and display name — permanently.
- Any profile photo you uploaded — permanently.
Data held only on your device (saved offers, favourites, recent searches, your district) is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its storage; we cannot remove it remotely because we never receive it.
9. Children
Offer Meet is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
Passwords are handled by Amazon Cognito and are never stored by us in readable form. The app holds no long-lived cloud credentials: uploads use short-lived, scoped credentials issued per signed-in user. All network traffic uses HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information against unauthorised access, alteration and loss.
11. International transfers
Our infrastructure runs on AWS. Depending on the region in use, your data may be processed outside your country. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and change the “Last updated” date at the top. Material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect.
